8th All Ateneo Alumni Convention in Chicago
University President Fr. Antonio F. Moreno and Alumni Relations Director Carmencita B. Macasinag recently attended the 8th All Ateneo Alumni Convention last July 3-6 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, Illinois, .
Held every two years, the convention was spearheaded by Ateneans –USA in Chicago with the theme:“Celebrating the Ateneo Legacy”. Keynote speaker was Smart/PLDT CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan.
Among the new highlights of the convention were the recognition of outstanding alumni/ae overseas. Awardees from the Ateneo de Zamboanga University were Dr. Leonardo C. Malalis-PreMed ’65 as Outstanding Ateneo Alumni Overseas in Science; Dr. Henry Oh, HS’78 as Outstanding Atenean Overseas Awardee in Academics; Mr. Tito M. Wee Sit HS’52 as Outstanding Atenean in Service to Alma Mater and Atty Lidinila Ramos-Reyes as Outstanding Alumni for Ateneo de Zamboanga University. The awards ceremony was held during the Gala Night last July 5, 2008.
Fr. Moreno and Baybee Macasinag also met with alumni/ae in Los Angeles last Saturday, July 28 at Jun Ilustrisimo’s residence in Anaheim, Los Angeles. They then proceeded to Houston to meet with alumni thereat at the residence of Cathy Cheong Marañon in Katy City.
Returning home, Fr. Moreno met with alumni in San Francisco through alumni coordinator Ester Nisperos-Agustin BSE’69.
