Presidents and school heads of the different private schools, colleges, and universities in Mindanao gathered last June 23 and 24, 2010 for the 1st COCOPEA Mindanao Congress at the Liceo de Cagayan University in Cagayan de Oro City. Sec. Annabelle T. Abaya, Head of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), was the guest speaker of the congress who spoke about the role of private education in waging peace in Mindanao.
The congress aimed at providing a forum where heads of private schools in Mindanao can have a meaningful exchange of concerns and opportunities with regards to private education. It also explored ways and means of collaborating and strengthening partnership in peace and development in Mindanao.
