Youths gather for Culture Change Camp

Over two hundred students and teachers from twenty-three schools in Western Mindanao gather for a three-day youth camp dubbed as BIDA: Be the Change Culture Change Program at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University-Fr. William H. Kreutz,SJ Campus in Tumaga, Zamboanga City from October 24 to 26, 2011.

The BIDA (Bagong Isip, Diwa, at Asal) or Bidahan Program is about encouraging the youth to start in their generation a new culture of leadership and citizenship founded on the principle of “Stewardship.” It seeks to form leaders who are not only effective but are empowering and ethical, and citizens who are engaged and responsible.

This is an initiative of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP)-Region 9, in partnership with the Ateneo Peace and Culture Institute of the Ateneo de Zamboanga Unviersity. Sponsors of this event are the CEAP-National, ZAMBASULTAPS, Sibs Publishing House, Rex Bookstore, Phoenix Publishing House, Diwa Learning Systems, Inc., Bank of Commerce-Veterans Branch, and the Bank of the Philippine Islands-Climaco Branch.

Participating secondary and tertiary schools are the following: Claret School of Maluso, Notre Dame of Jolo for Girls, Claret School of Isabela, Saint Paul School of Buug, Inc., Sacred Heart Diocesan School, Sta. Teresita Academy, The Good Shepherd of Imelda, Marcelo Spinola School, Notre Dame of Jolo High School Kasulutan, MArgosatubig Friendship School of Arts and Trade, Southern Peninsula College, Pax High School, Santa Maria Goretti Diocesan School, San Jose Academy, San Isidro High School, Xavier High School, Blanci College Foundation, St. Columban College, St. Joseph School, Zamboanga Avalokitesvara School, Immaculate Conception Archdiocesan School (Calarian), J-Jireh School, Claret School of Zamboanga, Southern City Colleges, Universidad de Zamboanga, and Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
