YEAR-END THANKS

02 April 2019

MEMO TO : THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY

RE              : YEAR-END THANKS

I look back at the past six years with much gratitude and deep appreciation for the collective work of all members of our community. In my two terms as President, I have witnessed how your hard work and dedication saw us through some of the most difficult trials the University has ever faced— the Zamboanga Siege, the July 2016 fire, and the financial consequences of the K-12 transition years.

As I look forward to my third term as President, I am confident and reassured that, with your continued support and unwavering commitment, AdZU will grow stronger and be better to do more for its mission of leadership and service in the areas of teaching, research, and community engagement.

At the close of this school year 2018-2019, let me offer my warmest congratulations and my deepest gratitude for the successful graduation and completion ceremonies to the academic units headed by their Principals and Deans, and the Vice Presidents and their respective organizing committees, the GS/JHS/SHS/CO Registrar’s Offices, the Physical Plant Office, and the University Security Office.

I would also like to thank the faculty, staff and administrators of the Higher Education units and the Professional Schools for the commendable results of the different board examinations, and those of the Basic Education units for their students’ achievements in academic, co-curricular, and athletic activities. I thank, too, the Social Development and Formation units for complementing the efforts of the academic units to ensure the holistic training and education of our students. I also thank the Central Services units for providing the vital support that contributed to the success of all our programs.

Our new Lantaka Campus, donated by the Walstrom family, is another reason for us to be grateful. This generous gift serves both as an affirmation of the work we have done so far, and as an inspiration to continue doing more in the service of our mission.

Lastly, in this season of Lent, I ask the community to join me in offering prayers for clean, peaceful and honest elections, and for a sustained and lasting peace in Zamboanga City, in Mindanao and the rest of the country.

Muchisimas gracias a todos!

FR KAREL S SAN JUAN SJ

President
