Xeph Suarez obtained his BS in Mass Communication from Ateneo de Zamboanga University in 2014. He is working freelance in different film, television, and media productions.
Xeph has directed short films, one of which is “Si Astri maka si Tambulah,” which won Best Director and received a Jury Citation for Best Film in Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival 2018. He is the producer of “Hondo,” 2016 QCinema International Film Festival’s Best Short Film.
His works have been selected for a number of film festivals abroad including PÖFF Shorts – Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, Tampere Film Festival, Lovers Film Festival – Torino LGBTQI Visions, Cambodia International Film Festival, Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival, OFF- Odense International Film Festival, among others.
Locally, his works have received nominations from Gawad Urian, Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS), and PMPC Star Awards for Movies.
Xeph is an alumnus of ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator (FLY), an annual filmmaking workshop organized by Busan Film Commission.
He is currently developing his first feature film “Dancing the Tides,” which participated in First Cut Lab – Projects in Development and is currently part of Film Development Council of the Philippine’s Southern Voices Lab.
