During the months of April and May, 2010, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University in cooperation with the Department of Education is offering to our many friends in the public and private high schools an opportunity to send their outstanding incoming senior students to our Senior Summer Program.
This summer program gathers together a select group of young students who are preparing for college. The ASSP aims to introduce them to college life and to have them experience college level professors, programs, facilities and activities.
Modified college courses have been designed to stimulate interest and participation in this unique seminar which the Ateneo offers free of charge. Participants are chosen from those recommended by the principals or counselors of various schools. Tests are administered to all applicants and the most qualified are accepted.
THE PROGRAM
The core courses of the ASSP are English, Science, Math, Computer Science, Religious Studies and Personhood.
There will also be other special lectures on college level areas of study to be given by select members of the College Faculty.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Aside from classroom lectures and laboratory activities, there will be opportunities for non-academic activities such as group discussions, picnics, games, immersion trips and the like. Projects initiated by the participants themselves are also part of the program.
- Attendance at the program is FULL TIME. Lectures and Laboratory sessions will be held from Monday to Friday in the mornings. Other activities are held in the afternoon about three times a week. The Program participant must not attend other seminars or workshops that will conflict with the ASSP Schedule.
- Participants from outside Zamboanga City such as Isabela, Lamitan, Ipil, Jolo, and Bongao will have to take care of their own board and lodging
The ASSP is alternatively administered by the Office of Admissions and the Office of Scholarships. This 18th ASSP will be run by the Office of Scholarships. The program begins on April 8 and ends on May 15, 2010 with their graduation.
