To pursue higher education by harnessing their talents in sports and the arts, the Supreme Student Government (SSG) of Andres Bonifacio College supported by LEaP (Learning to Earning Pathways), specifically Let’s LEaP: Leaping into Action Towards Youth-Centered and High-Impact Volunteer Initiatives conducted Talento Ko, Para sa Edukasyon Ko, a project aimed to empower young individuals aged 16-22 at Outdoor Stage, Barangay Cogon, Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte on December 17, 2023.
The program kicked off with an orientation providing participants with insights into the significance of the event and its objectives followed by team-building activities designed to improve camaraderie among participants. These activities aimed not only to break the ice but also to establish a collaborative atmosphere conducive to learning and personal development.
The heart of the program happened in the afternoon with a focused group discussion, centered on the role of talents in education. It was facilitated by the mentors and volunteers, and the participants engaged in meaningful conversations, sharing experiences and insights that aimed to broaden their perspectives on education and talent utilization.
Participants applied what they learned through team activities. The activities prepared by the organizing team encouraged creativity, critical thinking, and effective communication, which are essential elements for personal and academic growth.
The activity ended with a reflection, providing participants with a moment to ponder the day’s experiences and consider how they could apply these lessons in their personal and academic journeys. This introspective phase aimed to instill a sense of purpose and motivation, inspiring participants to actively pursue higher education.
Mr. Noel A. Camello, an activity volunteer, expressed his gratitude, stating, “I believe that every young person possesses unique talents that, when nurtured, can pave the way for a brighter future through education.”The event not only showcased the potential of the youth but also emphasized the importance of community-driven initiatives in fostering educational empowerment.
