Strengthening Partnerships for Education: AdZU-UNICEF Planning Workshop

From November 25 to 28, 2024, the Planning Workshop for Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) – UNICEF Engagement was held at Joy Nostalg Hotel, Manila, as part of a collaborative effort to empower Filipino youth through education. The event, in partnership with UNICEF Philippines and Ateneo de Zamboanga University’s Ateneo Learning and Teaching Excellence Center (ALTEC), focused on strategic initiatives for the Passports to Earning (P2E) Programme. This workshop also integrated UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited (GenU) initiative, which aims to provide opportunities for young people by connecting them with skills, education, and employment pathways. Together, these organizations are creating dynamic, skills-based educational opportunities for youth, ensuring that every learner has access to the tools they need for future success.

The workshop provided a dynamic platform for advancing Learning to Earning Pathways (LEaP!) through the Passports to Earning (P2E) Programme. Explored the P2E learner journey, emphasizing personalized, competency-based learning that equips youth with skills and credentials linked directly to real-world opportunities. The discussions highlighted innovative approaches to curriculum delivery, content customization, and measurable outcomes, ensuring that learning models are adaptable and impactful.

The Ateneo Learning and Teaching Excellence Center (ALTEC) contributed expertise in technology integration and interactive learning strategies, showcasing scalable solutions for inclusive education that bridge gaps and enhance student engagement. The workshop also explored tools for driving participation, such as the YOMA platform for connecting young people with skill-building opportunities, and branding strategies to make P2E more relatable and appealing to Filipino youth.

Throughout the sessions, participants shared insights on leveraging P2E initiatives to maximize impact, creating a collaborative approach that aligns local needs with global frameworks. This comprehensive engagement reinforces a shared vision of empowering young learners with the skills and opportunities needed to succeed in an evolving world.

The partnership between Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) and UNICEF Philippines marks a pivotal step in building transformative education systems. By uniting AdZU’s educational expertise through ALTEC and UNICEF’s innovative programming, this collaboration sets a strong foundation for a future where education is accessible, innovative, and directly linked to meaningful opportunities. Together, we are shaping an inclusive, skills-driven ecosystem that opens doors for all young learners.
