Middle-level academic and formation leaders from the Grade School, Junior High School, and Senior High School units of Ateneo de Zamboanga University gathered for the third annual Middle-Level Leaders Training on June 4–5, 2025, at Regis Hall, Fr William H Kreutz Campus with the theme “Compañeros: Walking Together in Faith and Purpose.”
This event spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Basic Education, under the leadership of Mr Jeffrey O Jalani, the two-day formation and planning activity provided a space for synergy, reflection, and strategic alignment across the Basic Education Unit. With a renewed sense of shared mission, participants engaged in meaningful conversations on leadership, collaboration, and program coherence.
The first day featured thought-provoking sessions on key areas of Jesuit educational leadership:
Ignatian Spirituality in Education by Fr Roberto M Boholst SJ, Junior High School Principal
Catholic Identity by Ms Elena B Segurigan, Grade School Principal
Leading with Depth by Ms Diane B Candido, Senior High School Principal
Leaders as Formators by Ms Sheryl R Caguioa, GS AP for Formation and Ms I-C D Zamora, JHS AP for formation
On the second day focused on Curriculum and Program Verticalization, led by Dr Marjorie S Emmanuel, Assistant to the Vice President for Higher Education. Participants collaborated in writeshops and presentations that addressed both vertical and horizontal alignment of academic programs from Grade School to Senior High School.
Simultaneously, the Formation Cluster convened at the Grade School Library to explore ways to harmonize student formation initiatives, share best practices, and affirm their collective commitment to cura personalis across all units.
The event concluded with the awarding of certificates, a photo session, and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist—capping off what was a moving experience of how we come together for our shared mission at AdZU.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all the speakers, facilitators, and especially to the participants for their active engagement, insights, and generous contributions. Your presence and collaboration are a testament to our commitment to forming persons for others through Jesuit education.
