Ryanne Murcia is a writer, director, and producer (among others) who made films about Zamboanga that changed the landspace of Chavacano cinema, placing it amongst the important Filipino works of her generation.

She is the youngest recipient of the “Outstanding Ipileño Award for Excellence in Art (Film)” given by the Municipality of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay where she comes from.

One of her student works entitled “No Ama Conmigo (Love Me Not) 2013” won her the Golden Durian at the first edition of then Salamindanaw International Film Festival now known as Salamindanaw Asian Film Festival.

In 2014, she made her second short film “Apasol (Chasing Sun)” where she also served as an actor. She won her first acting award at the Mindanao Film Festival in 2014 and went on to compete at the Salamindanaw International Film Festival and Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.

Entre Medio del Fin (In the Middle of an End), her third short film, won Best Film and Best Screenplay at Mindanao Film Festival in 2016. The film was nominated at Gawad Urian in 2017 and was selected amongst the best Filipino short films showcased abroad.

Murcia was part of the panel at Philippine Talks on Regional Cinema at the Busan International Film Festival in 2018.

She is the Festival Director of Festival de Cine Paz Mindanao.
