MEMO TO: THE ATENEO COMMUNITY
RE: “PEACE PLEASE! PEACE WITH JUSTICE!”
The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) National Board approved of a statement regarding the situation of conflict that afflicts Mindanao especially Western Mindanao these days. The statement (“Peace Please! Peace With Justice!”) will be published by the Philippine Daily Inquirer tomorrow (see attachment). This statement was initiated by the Zamboanga Basilan Sulu Tawi-Tawi Association of Private Schools (ZAMBASULTAPS) and CEAP Region 9 with the assistance of Fr Albert E Alejo SJ, Assistant to the President for Social Development and others. I personally endorse strongly this statement.
I invite the whole Ateneo community to reflect and discuss the points raised by the statement. If you agree with these points more or less, I hope we find ways and means to appropriate the meaning of these points and make them part of our academic community.
We pray for peace, pursue justice, and seek healing.
