MEMO TO: THE ATENEO COMMUNITY
RE: OPERATION TYPHOON LAWIN
Since yesterday, we are told that between 1,800 and 2,300 families have been affected by Typhoon Lawin. The City Council has approved a resolution declaring Zamboanga City in a state of calamity. We would like to extend a hand to the typhoon victims. To this end, I am asking Social Awareness Community Social Involvement Office (SACSI) to spearhead an initiative to assist the victims. SACSI will work with El Consejo and other groups of the university. We are now collecting cash and relief goods (e.g., drinking water, blankets, mats). Drop off point for relief goods will be at the Brebeuf gym.
Let us also identify and assist members of our AdZU community who have been affected by the typhoon.
I appeal to all the members of our community to offer some assistance.
I thank all who will be involved in this operation.
Let us commend our people to the loving protection and care of our God.
