Zamboanga City—On February 5, 2025, National Service Training Program (NSTP) formators of Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) convened at the FEC Conference Room for the first workshop session on “Effective Learning Engagement for Literacy Training Service (LTS) Formators” for the second semester of A.Y. 2024-2025.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Rogin Eribal, Director of the Ateneo Learning and Teaching Excellence Center (ALTEC). The workshop focused on equipping LTS formators with essential strategies to enhance learning experiences, particularly in the context of the Alternative Learning System (ALS).

Key topics covered in the workshop included the role of life skills in ALS, the effective use of life skills worksheets, and the application of questioning and facilitation techniques using Bloom’s Taxonomy. Mr. Eribal also introduced the Youth Agency Marketplace (YOMA), a platform designed to provide opportunities for growth, skill development, and youth empowerment.

The workshop underscored the importance of fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment for learners in the ALS program. Participants expressed their appreciation for the insights gained, particularly in utilizing innovative teaching techniques to enhance literacy training.

This workshop marks the beginning of a series of training sessions aimed at strengthening the capabilities of NSTP-LTS formators in delivering effective and impactful educational experiences. The next session is expected to build upon the foundational concepts introduced, further enhancing the instructional approaches used in literacy training.
