Multi-Sectoral Forum on Energy in AdZU

With the latest sudden increase in electricity bill that caught the city by surprise, a multi-sectoral forum on energy was organized on June 8, 2010 at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall at 1:30 in the afternoon.  This was organized by the Zamboanga City Chamber of Commerce & Industry Foundation, Inc. and the Ateneo de Zamboanga University through its Social Development Council.

The forum aimed to provide the people with facts and information behind the increase in electricity bill.  This was also a venue where the controversial power sharing agreement between ZAMCELCO and IN2POWER, Inc. was presented and clarified.  It was informed that this agreement has been jointly filed by the two parties to be cancelled.

The forum was attended by the business and private sectors of the city.  The guest speakers were City Mayor Celso L Lobregat, Engr. Ruben Conti, formerly with National Grid Corp of the Phils., Engr. Santiago Navarro, Energy Committee of ZCCFI at the same time member of the AdZU BOT, Mr  Roberto G Valerio, Assistant to the President of AdZU and IGZI, and Mr Reinerio Ramos General Manager of ZAMCELCO.

Fr. Antonio F. Moreno, president of AdZU gave the welcome message that focused on how multi-sectors can respond to the issue.  He pressed that this is a time where all must work together to address the reality of power supply problem in the city.
