Angeles City, August 09, 2025 – The Learning to Earning Pathways (LEaP!) Programme, in partnership with the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines – Angeles City Chapter (PYAP–AC) and the Department of Education (DepEd) Angeles City’s Youth Formation Division, conducted a full-day capacity-building session for Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) Officers and their Teacher-Advisers across the city.
Facilitated by Ms. Fadzrati D. Asarud, RPm, and Mr. Jhudiel Sean Diniay, RPm, the training deepened participants’ understanding of children’s rights, strengthened their capacity for meaningful youth participation, and highlighted the urgent call to protect learners from sexual exploitation and abuse in schools.
The collaboration with DepEd Angeles City was instrumental in making this training possible. By working together, we were able to reach a wide network of student leaders and
educators, ensuring that child protection and youth empowerment are firmly anchored within the school system.
For the Ateneo Learning and Teaching Excellence Center (ALTEC), this initiative is not just another training. It reflects our mandate of journeying with the youth and igniting their passion for lifelong learning. It is also an expression of the university’s Social Development mission: forming persons for and with others. Through LEaP!, we are creating pathways where young people are not only equipped with knowledge and skills but also empowered to lead in shaping safe, inclusive, and life-giving school communities.
The session concluded with a strong call to action: that safety, respect, and growth must not remain as aspirations but become everyday realities in the lives of our students. With the commitment of SSLG leaders, their advisers, and the support of DepEd and PYAP, Angeles City is taking a leap forward in nurturing compassionate and responsible youth leadership.
