MEMO TO: THE ADZU COMMUNITY
RE: INVESTITURE OF FR KAREL S SAN JUAN SJ AS PRESIDENT OF ATENEO DE ZAMBOANGA UNIVERSITY
I. DETAILS
The Investiture of Fr Karel S San Juan SJ as President of Ateneo de Zamboanga University will be on November 23, 2013, Saturday. The program will commence at 3:00 PM with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, University Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Fr Eusebio G Salvador SJ Campus, La Purisima Street, Zamboanga City. The Investiture Ceremonies will follow in the same venue after a 15 minute break. Dinner reception after the ceremonies shall be at the Multi-Purpose Covered Courts for all faculty, staff and guests.
II. ATTIRE
For the Grade School and High School Faculty, their usual graduation attire is highly encouraged. Semi-formal attire is expected for all the other members of the AdZU Community who shall attend this special event. Those who are requested to join the academic procession shall be in their academic gown – Board of Trustees, Presidential Management Team, and the Stage Party.
III. GUESTS
The President’s family members, guests and visitors will start arriving on November 21, Thursday. Some of them will be billeted at the Jesuit Residence and the Jose Ma Rosauro Hall (the new building behind the Jesuit Residence). Others will be at the local hotels and pension houses. There are representatives coming from AdMU, AdNU, AdDU, Xavier University, Ateneo de Cebu (formerly Sacred Heart School), and even from the new Ateneo de Iloilo (formerly Sta Maria Catholic School). Jesuit representatives from the Loyola School of Theology and San Jose Seminary will also be around. Our three past Presidents will also arrive – Fr. Ernesto A Carretero, SJ, Fr. William H Kreutz, SJ, and Fr. Antonio F Moreno SJ (now Father Provincial). VIPs from local and national agencies and other schools and universities are also coming.
This is OUR President’s Investiture, and his guests and invitees are OUR guests and invitees too. WE ARE THE HOSTS. Let us do our best to make our guests and visitors feel welcome – even if some of us are not part of any committee. Extend to them our utmost hospitality.
Considering the effects of the Zamboanga Crisis and the present Security concerns, we are doing our best to control the number of attendees but it is expected that all faculty and staff are to attend the President’s Investiture which is an Official Academic Activity. The HRADO shall work on a scheme to get the confirmation of all faculty and staff who are attending. Let’s all make this a very memorable event!
