FAUSTINO W SAAVEDRA BUILDING INAUGURATION

On
December 8 as we commemorate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the
Blessed Virgin Mary, the University’s patron saint, we shall hold the
Inauguration of the Faustino Wee Saavedra (FWS) Building.
This
building is named after the late Faustino W Saavedra, an alumnus
(BSC-Accounting, 1960) and founder of Ever Shipping Lines Inc. and Ever Lines
Inc., whose entrepreneurial pursuits in the last quarter of the 20th century
have made inter-island travel more accessible for the people of the Zamboanga Peninsula
and Western Mindanao.
On
behalf of the University community, I express my deep gratitude for the
generous benefaction of his family, through his son, Engr Edgar Saavedra who is
the co-founder and President of Megawide Construction Corporation, one of the
country’s leaders in the industry.
I
thank, too, the Board of Trustees and the University administration; the
Construction Management Team composed of Fr Richard V Ella SJ, and Engrs
Alfredo Pajes Jr, Roldanni Roberto De Vera Jr, Rodel Tarabi, and Eugene
Kanindot; the Office for Advancement staff; and, Ms Ruth Yu-Owen, chair of the #rise
Fund Campaign.
