RE: DISTRIBUTION
OF VP- FORMATION WORKLOAD
I
thank FR WILFREDO M SAMSON SJ for his ten years of dedicated service as
College Chaplain (November 2007 to present), Assistant to the President for
Formation (April 2011 – March 2017), and Vice President for Formation (April
2017 – August 2018).
There
will be no replacement at this time in his position as Vice President for
Formation. Instead, his workload shall be distributed among key University
officers.
The
President shall handle university-level formation programs such as the ISEW
and post-ISEW workshops and Formation Summit, and will serve as chair/convener
of the Formation Council.
Fr
Marcos Louis D Catalan SJ, Vice President for Higher Education,
with the logistical and technical support of the Student Services offices,
shall manage the formation programs and activities of the higher education
unit such as recollections and retreats for college faculty and student,
and the Ignatian Conversation Growth Circles (ICGCs) especially for the College
of Nursing and School of Liberal Arts. Also, with the assistance of Ms
Roxienne Cabangcala and the Campus Ministry Office, he shall oversee
institutional formation events, such as the start-of-school year
Recollection and Convocation, Masses of the Holy Spirit, St Ignatius
celebrations, and Advent and Lenten Recollections.
The
principals and assistant principals for formation of the Grade
School, Junior High School, and Senior High School shall oversee the retreats
and recollections of their respective units. Stephen T Abuan SJ, Vice
President for Basic Education and the Basic Education Council shall
exercise oversight on these matters.
The
Formation Council shall assist the Human Resource Development and
Administration Office (HRADO) in managing the formation program for
non-teaching personnel, such as Days with God, Colloquium in the Ministry
of Work, recollections and retreats.
The
University Chaplaincy Team, composed of the AdZU Jesuit Community and
headed by Fr Louis Catalan SJ as Superior, replaces the Basic Education
Chaplaincy and shall take care of the Sacraments (masses,
confessions, anointing of the sick, et al), including the Monday
masses for SALT organization. The Campus Ministry Offices of the different
units shall receive requests which will be submitted to the University
Chaplaincy Team through Ms Roxienne Cabangcala.
I
thank the aforementioned individuals and offices for their commitment and
generosity in taking on these responsibilities, and I ask the University
Community for cooperation and support.
Thank
you.
Fr Karel S San Juan, SJ
University President
