The College of Science, Information Technology, and Engineering (CSITE) had a “sweet” day out held at the Saigon Hall of the A Taste of Asia (ATOA) Restaurant on September 13, 2024. Though the day was rainy, it was still filled with sweetness as the faculty and staff united to honor 20 years of companionship, excellence, and service.
The celebration started with welcoming words from Dr Jocelyn Partosa, the dean of CSITE. In her address she looked back on how the years had flown by and highlighted that marking the anniversary of CSITE wouldn’t have been possible without the unending support and unity of the entire faculty and staff. She acknowledged the challenges that the college had come across on the journey and commended the concerted courage and resilience that have enabled the college to overcome. Dr Partosa also expressed her gratitude to the faculty and staff and to those people behind this milestone for their dedication and commitment, which have played an important part in shaping CSITE’s legacy of not just excellence but also companionship and service.
The faculty and staff day out offered numerous opportunities for collaboration and the joy of being together. Faculty and staff enjoyed a variety of activities, allowing them to engage and have fun. Additionally, reflective sessions were held, providing a meaningful time to look back on the past, appreciate the present, and look forward to the bright future of CSITE. It was a noteworthy day that encouraged reflection, connection, and hope for what lies ahead.
The event concluded with a heartfelt commitment circle activity, followed by an exciting raffle draw sponsored by Virginia Food Incorporated. The day was truly filled with gratitude and pride. This celebration is only the beginning of a remarkable 20th anniversary, which will be honored throughout the year with ongoing celebration centered on faith, fellowship, excellence, and gratitude.
