October 8, 2025. And while the others may have been lounging and enjoying the cold weather brought about

Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) which has been making its presence felt throughout the city, the seminar pushed through despite the inclement weather, and the eventual suspension of classes. This highlights the journey of the Nursing Faculty and its pursuit of academic excellence and its desire to overcome setbacks despite deterrent circumstances. The Research Team have invited credible speakers to deliver their expertise, knowledge and skills in their areas of specialty.

This seminar-workshop started with the Opening Remarks from our supportive Assistant Dean, Antonia R Quilos RN MN. This was followed through by Ms Karen V Abulencia RN MN LPT, the Chairperson of the AdZU Ethics Board.

Ms Abulencia emphasized the value of informed consent and non-coercion from research participants. Ms Abulencia and Mr Abu emphasized the idea of “what is technically unsound, is ethically unsound.” Which reverberates true of their experiences as Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the said ethics board.

Building on the momentum established by the previous speakers, Dr Marjorie S Emannuel shared her knowledge on formulating a well-grounded review of related literature. She also prepared activities wherein the College of Nursing actively participated. Dr. Emmanuel underscored the weight of sound related literatures and the foundation it provides to a research paper.

Ultimately, the research seminar ended on a high note, with everyone looking forward to implementing the learnings they gained from the workshop and to return home with motivated spirits and desire to improve their research—while finally getting to enjoy the sweater weather at the comforts of their homes.
