Members of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University’s SACSI office, Grade School department, School of Management and Accountancy, School of Liberal Arts, College of Nursing, School of Education, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Medicine and representatives from the Task Force Zamboanga and Air Force Zamboanga gathered at the banks of the Tumaga river to plant bamboo cuttings on December 3, 2014 for the “Dia de Ciembrada”.
A total of 102 participants planted 100 bamboo cuttings and joined the advocacy in the preservation of our environment.
The activity aimed to strengthen the university’s partnership with its community partners and alliances. In organizing the bamboo planting activity, we were able to contribute to the preservation of the environment as bamboos help in the carbon absorption, soil erosion, control, and regulation of quantity and quality of water managing watersheds.
Dia de Ciembrada was one of the Volunteers Day activities during the Ateneo Fiesta 2014 celebration. The Social Awareness and Community Service Involvement office spearheaded the event.
