Ateneo
Research Center Hosts Public Research Presentation
The Ateneo Research Center hosted a public research
presentation on March 6, 2013 featuring the work of AdZU President Fr. Antonio
F. Moreno, SJ and the recently completed research of registered guidance
counselors Ms. Estesa Xaris Q. Legaspi and Ms. Norma A. Baluca, of the College
Guidance and Counseling Office. The public presentation was held at the LRC
Conference room.
Fr. Moreno presented his paper entitled Dancing with the
Philippine Electoral System: The Rise and Fall of the Church’s Electoral
Engagement. The presentation highlighted the history of the Church’s
involvement during elections in the country over the past 20 years. Ms. Legaspi
and Ms. Baluca’s research entitled Factors Influencing College Students’
Attitudes toward Counseling was the event’s other presentation. It featured
the findings of the survey involving over 3,000 student-respondents and their
attitude toward obtaining counseling services.
Present in the event were AdZU administrators, faculty,
staff, and students as well as representatives from civic groups based in
Zamboanga City. The public presentation was, in recent memory, one of the most
attended.
