Zamboanga City, Philippines – The ALAB Community launched the “Awakening CINDER: Cultivating Initiative, Nurturing Determination, and Encouraging Resilience” last December 17 and 18, 2023, spanning two days across different locations in Zamboanga City.
The project kicked off on the 17th of December at Camp Antonio Limbaga Boy Scout Park, Pasonanca, Zamboanga City. The day featured resource speakers and team-building activities until 5 in the afternoon.
On the second day, the ALAB team coordinated with Police Station 2 Curuan for security, participants reached Sapa Moro Elementary School (SMES) where they engaged with elementary learners. The program included games, dances, and an art workshop led by the Art Peace Education Organization (APEd). Educational materials, book donations, and other essentials were distributed to both teachers and learners.
Despite the challenges encountered, ALAB Community ensured the success of the program. The Learning to Earning Pathways (LEaP) of the SUGPAT Program of Ateneo Learning and Teaching Excellence Center, played a crucial role in supporting the project, enabling the emergence of a new breed of volunteers.
Key partners of the CINDER Project included LEaP, Albert Castillo (Chairman of Brgy. Guiwan), Western Mindanao State University Youth Entrepreneurs, APEd, Naval Forces MBLT 11, and PS2 Curuan.
The ALAB Community’s CINDER Project exemplifies the power of collaboration, community resilience, and the positive impact that can be achieved through determined efforts. Despite challenges, the project not only accomplished its objectives but also left an enduring mark on the participants and the community, fostering a spirit of compassion and empowerment.
