The Religious Studies Department in coordination with the Archdiocesan Catechetical Apostolate conducted a Summer Catechetical Program held last May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 25, 2009 at the Ateneo La Purisima Campus.
There were seventy five volunteer catechists and parish catechetical coordinators coming from the different parishes in Zamboanga City who attended the program.
Br Neopito J. Saicon, SJ, Mr. Filemon G. Flores, Mr. Rodel R. Salgados, Ms. Ronela V. Mocoy and Ms. Rosana P. Solamo were the program facilitators.
The program aimed to deepen and widen the archdiocesan catechists’ knowledge and skills on the different dimensions of their apostolate.
The program culminated last May 25, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Chapel with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist with Bishop Romulo G. Valles as the main presider together with other parish priests as concelebrants. During the homily Bishop Valles expressed his joy and deep gratitude to the Ateneo de Zamboanga University for reaching out to the archdiocese.
The Religious Studies Department considered this program as an outreach opportunity.
