Advancing Teaching Excellence Through the LIGHT Program: Strengthening Socio-Emotional Learning, Assessment, and Innovative Practices

The LIGHT Program continues to illuminate the path for educators by equipping them with essential tools and strategies that enhance teaching effectiveness, student engagement, and curriculum relevance. Through its carefully curated modules, the program empowers educators to foster inclusive, dynamic, and future-ready learning environments.

Following the success of CEA 4, educators transitioned into CEA 3: Assessment and Evaluation, facilitated by Dr. Raissa P. Austero, Program Coordinator of Graduate Studies. The in-person session took place on January 25-26, February 1, 8, and with the program concluding on February 9, 2025. This module emphasized the importance of effective assessment strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.

The journey continued with CEA 5: Curriculum Design and Innovations, led by Mr. Espie Atilano, on February 22-23 and March 1, 2025. This session encouraged educators to reimagine curriculum development by integrating relevance, flexibility, and creativity. With a focus on aligning curriculum with the evolving needs of today’s learners, participants learned to design lessons that are both academically rigorous and deeply engaging.

Building on these foundations, the program advanced into CEA 6: Innovative Teaching and Learning Methodologies, the first module under Cluster 3: The Development Cluster. Spearheaded by Ms. Pilar Agraviador, Chair of Professional Education at the School of Education, this ongoing module (March 22-23, 29, and April 5-6, 2025) explores progressive teaching techniques that promote active learning, critical thinking, and holistic development. Educators are diving into differentiated instruction, interactive strategies, and evidence-based practices that inspire student-centered learning.

Through every session, the LIGHT Program reinforces its mission to support professional growth and meaningful change in education. With the continued partnership of MEMBA, we strengthen our commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching practice. To all our LIGHT Bearers—your passion and dedication are reshaping the educational landscape and lighting the way toward a brighter, more compassionate future.
