Finding God in All Things: School of Liberal Arts Holds Spiritual Retreat

The faculty and staff of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University School of Liberal Arts (SLA) gathered for a three-day Spiritual Retreat from May 29 to 31, 2026, at Harmony Village, providing an opportunity for prayer, reflection, and renewal grounded in the Ignatian tradition.

Facilitated by Fr. Alberto “Tex” Paurom, SJ, the retreat offered participants a sacred space away from the demands of daily academic life to deepen their relationship with God, strengthen their sense of community, and renew their commitment to their vocation as educators and formators.

The sessions were grounded in the Ignatian CERAE Method (Context, Experience, Reflection, Action, and Evaluation), which guided participants through a process of personal and communal discernment. Through moments of prayer, silence, reflection, and meaningful dialogue, members of the SLA community were invited to recognize God’s presence in their everyday experiences and to reflect on how they can more fully live out their mission in service of others.

The retreat also fostered deeper connections among faculty and staff, creating opportunities for shared reflection and mutual support as they journey together in the work of education and formation.

The School of Liberal Arts extends its gratitude to Fr. Alberto “Tex” Paurom, SJ, for his generous accompaniment, wisdom, and pastoral guidance throughout the retreat. Appreciation is likewise extended to all members of the SLA community whose openness, participation, and commitment contributed to the meaningfulness of the experience.

As they return to their respective offices and classrooms, participants carry with them renewed spiritual energy, a strengthened sense of purpose, and a deeper commitment to finding God in all things as they continue their mission of forming persons for and with others.
