Ateneo de Zamboanga University, in collaboration with Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB), conducted a Political Education and Training of Trainers session entitled “Kuwentuhang Halalan” facilitated by Sir Karlo Abadines the executive director of SLB on March 15, 2025. The training aimed to expand the pool of facilitators capable of providing training in their respective fields and was attended by selected faculty, staff, and students of the University.

The “Kuwentuhang Halalan” module primarily draws content from “Kuwentuhang Bayan,” a political conversation manual published by Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB). This new module (KH) aims to engage participants in constructive dialogue and facilitate the asking of necessary and relevant questions surrounding the national and local election. Through this process, it intends to foster critical thinking about the voting process among electorates and build their disposition to be more involved in the electoral process so that they are more than just a voter.
Prior to the training, Mr. Rovic John Eslao, the Department Chair of SSPE, provided key insights into the current political landscape of Zamboanga City, which helped contextualize the training. He then presented data from the #dAZurv community survey, further establishing a baseline of the participants’ disposition for the session.
