The Google Developer Student Clubs – Blue Eagles organized an event, entitled “Digital Essentials for Deployment and Development” (DEED), held on February 3, 2024. The primary objective was to help participants gain digital skills for the professional world as well as advocate for employment opportunities through the proficient use of Google productivity tools—specifically, Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Sheets. The event took place at the AdZU Mathematics and Statistics Laboratory, where a dedicated group of ALS learners from Recodo, Zamboanga City, gathered.
In the first part of the event, led by the organizers of DEED, the participants were taught the basics of making documents, creating presentations, and handling spreadsheets using Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets. In the second part, the participants practiced what they learned through hands-on activities, showing off what they learned from the earlier session. Following given rules, everyone completed their tasks, proving they could use Google tools effectively.
Drawing from the experience of the Next LEaP event which was centered on supporting underserved youth, The Ateneo Learning and Teaching Excellence Center played a significant role in the event’s success, through their unwavering encouragement and support. Their commitment to positive change and community empowerment helped shape the narrative of the successful implementation of DEED.
