AdZU BSN Students Spearhead Oral Health Month 2024

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing students of Ateneo de Zamboanga University conducted a culminating program for the pupils of Boalan Day Care Center at the Boalan Covered Court last February 20, 2024, in celebration of the Oral Health Month 2024 with the theme “Ngipin ay Alagaan, Tulad ng Inang Kalikasan”. The program was spearheaded by the level II BSN students under the instruction of, Ms Floribel P San Luis, RN, MN, Level II Clinical Instructor and assisted by the level III BSN students who are also under the instruction of Mr Ricky Tecson, RN, MN, level III Clinical Instructor.

The level II BSN students prepared snacks, prizes, games, and other activities that are related to the said theme to enlighten and impart knowledge to the young pupils along with their parents in order to begin or maintain good oral hygiene as early as possible. The level III students were in charge of the documentary, registration forms, and crowd control. Both groups accomplished their duties during their Related Learning Experience that is part of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing curriculum in the Ateneo de Zamboanga University.

The program ended with a photo opportunity with the team, the clinical instructors, daycare students, and the teachers of the pupils. Furthermore, toothbrushes and toothpastes were also distributed to the pupils and a poster, as a token of appreciation was given to the said daycare center. With this, it would encourage the pupils to practice oral hygiene which will hopefully aid them into making it a habit.
