Refreshed: AdZU Staff Attends
Ministry of Work Colloquium
Thirty-two
(32) AdZU staff returned to work with their passion for the mission rejuvenated
after the Colloquium on the Ministry of Work last September 4, 2018 at Woodland
Resort, Zambowood. Spearheaded by the Human Resource Administration and
Development Office (HRADO), the colloquium is a conversation among colleagues
about the spirituality of work and their roles in the greater AdZU mission.
Facilitated
by Fr Wilfredo Samson, SJ, Vice President for Formation and author of the colloquia
modules, the activity was packed with activities for the participants from
different clusters of the university workforce. The colloquium started with a
talk on the Spirituality of Work where participants were made to recall their
individual purpose of working. “Everyone’s role is vital to the achievement of
the University’s goal,” stressed Fr Samson. Sharing sessions were also abundant
during the colloquium, allowing the participants to process their experiences
and voice out their concerns.
In
his talk, Fr Samson also emphasized the importance of rest and self-care. As
part of resetting their individual purpose and part in the mission, rest forms an
integral part of the program as it allows the participants to relax both their
minds and bodies.
HRADO
Training and Development Officer Cecile Simbajon, reported that, the idea of
the colloquium started last SY 2017-2018 when the University recognized the
need to create an avenue for the staff to talk about their work, share
experiences, and express the joys and challenges of their work. At that time,
the colloquium for faculty, on the Ministry of Teaching, had already been
running for thirty years.
The
colloquium, especially designed for employees who have been with AdZU for more
than 10 years, allows for the self-evaluation of one’s body of work while reflecting
on the graces and achievements received during their stay in AdZU. As the
participants return to campus life, they also return to their mission as a
worker and their journey in the ministry of education with a renewed sense of
spirit and meaning in their work.
