ACLG goes to Pitogo for BHLMW
Health is a basic human right and it is embodied under the constitution that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, and abode without the due process of law.
The Ateneo de Zamboanga University Center for Leadership and Governance (ACLG) successfully facilitated the Barangay Health Leadership and Management Worskshop (BHLMW) at the Municipality of Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur. This was held on July 29 and 30, 2014. The activity was funded by the Local Government Unit of Pitogo for the capability enhancement of barangay health leadership and management within their constituent communities. Out of fifteen (15) barangays, fourteen (14) barangays successfully attended the two (2) day activity. The participants during the workshop were local leaders and health workers within their respective communities such as the Barangay Chairpersons, Barangay Health Workers, and Midwives.The workshop focused mainly on the six (6) building blocks of health (Health Service Delivery, Human Resource, Medicine and Technologies, Health Financing, Health Information System, and Leadership and Governance) and the 3-delays model of health. There were live discussions, active participation, role playing, and group presentations during the workshop.Feedback from the participants was presented by Municipal Heath Officer Ava Rebecca Alejandro, MD, CPA, during the live discussions. Hon. Richard Garban, the Municipal Mayor of Pitogo, shared his learning insights and closing remarks at the end of the workshop.
Each barangay was tasked to device a three (3) month action plan based on the health issues from their concerned locality and the output of the action plan will be monitored by the Regional Health Unit headed by the Municipal Health Officer.
