ACLG conducts BL Appreciation Course to AdZU Faculty Members

The Ateneo Center for Leadership and Governance conducted an Appreciation Course on Bridging Leadership (BL) to selected faculty and staff of the university on July 25-26, 2014 at the JMR Formation Hall. The activity was entitled: “Appreciation Course on Bridging Leadership towards Institutionalization of Public Leadership”. This activity was initiated by the ACLG to expand the pool of trainers of the office to help in its pursuit in conducting capacity building and leadership training activities to the elected leaders in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

Fourteen (14) faculty and staff members coming from the different colleges and units of the university attended the appreciation course. The participants were led to understand the BL process by allowing them to go through the different concepts of the framework – ownership of the identified societal issue, co-ownership of the issue with stakeholders, and coming up with creative interventions in resolving the issue in co-creation. The sessions were facilitated by the ACLG. They were joined by Mr. Aryameir Ismael, the coordinator for student leadership formation, and Ms. Mary Rose Jean Andrada, the communications officer of the university. The methods of the sessions were Structured Learning Experiences (SLEs), group sharing, plenary processing, and output reporting.

As a start-off to the activity, the programs and activities of the office were formally introduced by the director of the ACLG Ms. Aurora C. Gonzales. This was to set-up the ground for the need to have more resource speakers to the different training activities of the center. The appreciation course ended with a discussion of the ways forward where the participants can help out in relation to the programs presented during the first day of the activity. The participants expressed their appreciation of the BL framework, finding it relevant not only for out of school collaboration but also in the personal application of the framework in their everyday lives. The participants also expressed interest in becoming a part of the pool of trainers for ACLG training activities.
