The Ateneo Research Center sponsored the Seminar on Research Ethics on March 25th, 2011. The event was held at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall, Ateneo de Zamboanga University. The seminar’s resource speaker was Madelyn A. Sta. Maria, PhD, a psychologist from De LaSalle University.
Faculty members and researchers from the various colleges and universities of Regions 9, and 12, as well as from the CARAGA region attended the event. The seminar was conducted to help both budding and veteran researchers update their knowledge on research ethics and to inform them of the ethical guidelines being used and maintained by top universities in the country. Part of the seminar also covered the relevance of having a Research Ethics Committee (REC) in a college or university. Dr. Sta. Maria discussed the functions of the REC as well as the advantages of having an REC on the research activities of a college or university.
