CCES seeks to reach out to communities where vulnerability to economic and political abuse, to disease, and to conflict and violence is highest.
Hence, the crafting of a literacy program for peace in communities where lumads, Muslim and Christians live together which main objectives are to achieve the following:
1. Higher level of literacy for youth and adults in the community
2. Culture of peace and tolerance for diversity practiced in the community
3. Improved health condition of the community
To date, this project runs in two sitios – Luuk in barangay Limpapa at west end of the city, and Upper Lamisahan, an interior upland area in barangay Lamisahan at east of the city.
The program was also awarded as Most Outstanding Literacy Program in Region IX in 1995.
