About the Convention
The Annual Student Teachers Convention was conceived as part of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University’s 5-year commitment to the Philippine-Australian Project in Basic Education (PROBE) which started in 1997.
A decade later and even after the project has ended, ADZU’s College of Education keeps the commitment to work for quality education in the region by organizing and hosting the convention — now called the Regional Pre-Service Teachers Convention.
The convention was initially organized to serve as venue for student teachers (or pre-service teachers as they are now known) to come together and share their thoughts and feelings about teaching and the challenges that lie ahead. It has now evolved to become an opportunity for them to learn about pedagogical theories, trends, and innovations from expert and experienced faculty of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
In 2006, the Convention has again evolved and now has, as one of the highlights, the Regional Teaching Skills Competitions. The competitions aim to give recognition to pre-service teachers with exceptional skills and abilities in the different aspects of teaching.
