MEMO TO : THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY
RE : 2015 International Peace Day Competition
I commend the AdZU Junior High School for being chosen as winner of the 2015 International Peace Day Competition. Led by Ms Ruth Guerrero, former JHS Social Action Coordinator and currently Peace Advocacy Officer, the JHS Face to Faith Team organized a Peace Day Activity which bested 70 others from around the world.
The competition, supported by the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, was participated students of Face to Faith member–schools worldwide who were challenged to devise activities and events during the United Nations International Peace Day to encourage their communities to focus on the idea of peace and what it meant to them.
Our winning entry was described as “a dialogue of life that brought together peoples of various ethnic and religious perspectives to talk about and experience the promise of cross-cultural and interfaith harmony”.
I congratulate and thank the JHS unit led by its principal Fr Stephen T Abuan SJ and Ms Guerrero for this worthwhile initiative in support of our University’s mission.
