ADZU President Fr. Antonio F. Moreno was elected unanimously as President of the Zamboanga-Basilan-Sulu-Tawi-Tawi Association of Private Schools (ZAMBASULTAPS) during the annual General Assembly on August 14.
In the general assembly held at the Grand Ballroom of Garden Orchid Hotel, Fr. Moreno was elected unopposed to a 3-year term as head of the 84-strong private schools association in Western Mindanao.
Also elected as members of the board were Fr. James Christian Castro, director of the Claret School of Zamboanga and Sister Amelia David, ICM, School superintendent of the Diocese of Pagadian.
Father Pepito Tigoy and Fr. Felix Suarin were also voted as replacements for two others in the board to serve the remaining term of their predesessors.
In the past year, ZAMBASULTAPS scored high in both membership and funds raised from fees and dues.
The organization was also involved in several advocacies including peace and development and the ecology.
Fr. Tony expressed gratitude to the ZAMBASULTAPS membership as he vowed to work even harder to push the causes of private schools education in the region.
