US Embassy Fortifies Connection with AdZU

The US Embassy in the Philippines renewed its commitment to fortify connections with the Ateneo de Zamboanga University through the visit of Chargé d’Affaires Heather Variava along with other embassy officials on May 31, 2022.

In her meeting with University President Fr Karel S San Juan SJ, CDA Variava discussed strengthening the partnership between the Embassy and the university, along with possible collaborations with American Spaces Philippines for civic and social engagements.

CDA Variava also visited the American Corner located at Fr Jose T Bacatan SJ (FJTBSJ) Library, one of 15 located across the country, where she met Library Director Lynnie Calingacion and Reference Librarian Agnes Lim, who also oversees the American Corner, among other library staff.

Operating in AdZU since 1987, the American Corner is an open-access multimedia hub of resources on American people and culture. It also periodically sponsors lectures, programs, and activities in different themes and topics, with the aim of offering realistic perspectives of America to Filipino communities.
