UF HOPE conducts Local Candidates Forum

 

The United Front for Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Election (UF HOPE) conducted a Local Candidates Forum on May 4, 2013 at the Brebeuf Gym, Ateneo de Zamboanga University.

Present in the said event were the mayoralty and congressional candidates for Zamboanga City. It was also attended by different sectors such as the communities from Limpapa, Labuan, among others. Also, present were the security forces represented by the Task Force Zamboanga (TFZ) and Philippine National Police (PNP).Members of the academe composed of the faculty/staff and students of ADZU were also present and had the chance to ask questions.

For the mayoralty candidate, Mr. Alberto R. Cajayon was the only one able to attend the activity. Whereas for congressional candidates present were: Mr. Cesar F. Climaco, Jr. and Chrisler T. Cabarrubias (District 1); and Mr. Abdurahman S. Tagayan, Mr. Abelardo A. Climaco, Jr., Mr. Manuel Jose M. Dalipe and Mr. Samuel F. Enesando (District 2 ).

The affair consisted of four (4) rounds. The candidates were only given one (1) minute to speak per round. In the first part of the forum, candidates presented their platforms. The remaining rounds were devoted to answering questions from the panelist and the audience.

The scope and manner of questions given to the candidates were based on the consolidated issues from the general public. It was gathered during the conduct of the UF HOPE voter’s education which was dubbed as Citizenship Education: Voices of Zamboanga (VOZ). The VOZ is a series of consultation, training, and workshop that tackle on responsible citizenship and social awareness from the different sectors and communities in Zamboanga City.

The forum was an avenue to inform the public of the plans and platforms of the different candidates and at the same time to help them discern the type of candidates they would be voting for the May 13, 2013 election.
