Tam-Awan Village Artists Conduct Workshops in Zamboanga

The Gallery of the Peninsula and the Archipelago(GPA) and the Ateneo Center for Culture and Arts (ACCA), with the support of Chanum Foundation Inc,organized art workshops given by the renowned Tam-awan Village artists of Baguio City.

Over 80 students and 8 teachers from public and private schools in Zamboanga City participated in the Monoprint T-shirt Design and Sand Art workshops given on August 24 at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall, LRC Building,Fr Eusebio Salvador Campus in La Purisima.

A separate workshop was conducted the following day for the children of Internally Displaced People (IDP) at the transitory site in Masepla, Mampang.About50 kindergarten pupilsparticipated in the said activity which was facilitated and co-organized by Camille Lucille Bello, AdZU RAP Coordinator of the Social Awareness and Community Service Involvement (SACSI) Office.

The participants benefited from guidance and instruction of accomplished artists: Mr Art Lozano, Mr Mark Tandoyog, Mr Herwin Buccat,  and Mr Lester B Rodriguez. They were accompanied by the workshop sponsors: Mr Chit Asignacion,Chanum Foundation vice president;and, Ms Malen Catajan, the foundation’s secretary.

A joint outreach project of the Chanum Foundation, Inc for the Mindanao leg and the Ateneo’sACCA-GPA, this endeavoraimed to promote arts awareness and appreciation.
