Support and Cooperation for the AtFest 2016

24 November 2016

MEMO TO :  THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY

RE : SUPPORT AND COOPERATION FOR THE ATFEST 2016

One of our most-awaited and cherished institutional celebrations, the Ateneo Fiesta is upon us once again. I thank the ATFEST 2016 Steering Committee headed by Mr Marco Alfino “Kiko” Miranda, who is assisted by Ms Cecile Simbajon, Fr Francisco “Koko” Parilla SJ, and Mr Brian Joseph Bañgo, for accepting the daunting tasks of planning, organizing, and managing. I also thank the vice chairs of the different programs and activities, their respective committee chairs and members, and all those who are helping ensure the success of this year’s ATFEST in the spirit of community and volunteerism.

Due to the challenges that our University has faced this year — foremost of which were the July 7 Fire and the K-12 financial impact — the festivities shall be modest but meaningful. We had to modify the format, trim down the number of days and sports events, and even forego with some traditional activities, such as the Torch Parade. These were all highly contentious matters which were resolved with the understanding, support, and cooperation of the whole University community, especially the students and alumni.

ATFEST 2016 shall officially commence on the 30th of November and will last until the

4th of December. However, there already will be pocket activities on November 26 and 27.

To minimize academic disruptions, November 28 (Monday) and 29 (Tuesday) will be regular class days in all levels.

May the ATFEST celebration bring us even closer as one community and further strengthen our resolve to #rise from the challenges we face, for the greater glory of God.

Muchas Gracias.

FR KAREL S SAN JUAN SJ

University President
