MEMO TO: UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY
RE: SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT UNITS
I would like to inform the University Community about the following updates on our Social Development Units, many of which I have presented during the General Convocation last Friday, 27 June 2014:
- The Ateneo Peace and Culture Institute (APCI) is now changed to Ateneo Peace Institute (API) so it can focus on peace education, communications, and advocacy;
- The Center for Performing and Visual Arts (CPVA), is now changed to Ateneo Center for Culture and Arts (ACCA). ACCA will take on the “culture” dimension of the former APCI. ACCA will be part of the Social Development Units;
- The Social Awareness and Community Service Involvement (SACSI) Office, will also be part of the Social Development Units;
- The Environmental Program will be conceptualized and planned for this school year. Ms Regina Junio will lead this process; and
- The University Social Development Council (SDC) will be the coordinating body of the Social Development Units, which are the following: Center for Community Extension Services (CCES), Ateneo Center for Leadership and Governance (ACLG), ACCA, API, Ateneo High School Social Action Program, SACSI, and the Environmental Program. The SDC will be composed of the Directors and one senior associate of each Social Development Unit, the University Communications Officer, the University Planning Coordinator, the Coordinator for Muslim Affairs, and the Social Development Office Secretary.
We ask for the support and cooperation of the community as we pursue our strategic thrust of engaged citizenship and nation building through our Social Development Units.
