RESEARCH CHAIR INCENTIVE PACKAGE

To encourage the faculty / staff to do research activity, the Ateneo
Research Center instituted the Research Chair Program. Through this program,
faculty & academic staff are given the opportunity to engage in research
activities and given recognition for such. Professional and economic rewards
for undertaking such activities are given through public presentation of
results, opportunity for publication in local, national and international
journals, credits for promotion and the financial support.

 

Qualifications:

  • must
    be a permanent-fulltime faculty or academic staff.
  • a
    faculty / staff under contract / probation must partner with a permanent
    faculty/staff to avail of the Research Chair Incentive package.
  • must
    have no pending research with ARC / arrangements are made with the approval of
    the RPC

Areas of Support:

A.College Faculty 

  • Continuation
    of full salary
  • Minimum
    deload of 6 units (2 subjects) and a maximum of full deload (depending on the
    nature of the research)
  • Favorable
    scheduling of classes

B.Basic
Education Faculty

  • Continuation
    of full salary
  • Full
    deload for one school year
  • Honorarium of 50,000 (Action Research = 6 to 9 units
    given to college faculty)
  • Complex
    research, RPC may decide to increase the honorarium.

C.Non-Teaching Personnel

  • Continuation
    of full salary
  • Minimum
    deload of 6 units converted to number of hours work

Action Research: Pre
and post comparisons after interventions are introduced using non-randomized
samples

Descriptive Research: Quantitative
and/or qualitative descriptions of 
specific situation/s using simple surveys, interviews, focus groups,
observations, document reviews, etc

Correlational Studies and simple comparisons: Quantitative
analyses of the strength of relationships between two or more variables (e.g.
teacher qualifications correlated with student achievement) and/or
differences between groups

Other research that do not require extensive and complex analysis as
determined by the members of the research review committee

6-9 units

Php 50,000

Descriptive Research requiring extensive geographical coverage, large
and/or not easily sought subjects (special populations such as unique tribal
groups, hard to locate species of fungi, etc.), and multiple means of
description (cross validation/referencing)

Quasi-experimental and Experimental Research

Longitudinal studies

12-15 units

 

Php 75,000

 

Experimental Research that require highly
complex and multiple procedures and measurements, longer periods of
incubation/observation, and/or extraordinary locations (such as special
laboratories, elaborate set ups as in some social experiments, etc)

Meta-analysis that require synthesizing
a large body of work

Other research that require extensive and complex analysis as
determined by the members of the research review committee

18-21units
