MEMO TO: THE ATENEO COMMUNITY
RE: RE-IMPLEMENTATION OF SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
After due consultation, I would like to inform our community of some initiatives we are taking toward the re-implementation of our Solid Waste Management Program (SWMP). We are not just simply redoing what has been done in the past in regard to SWMP. We are indeed creating a culture that makes SWMP a way of life in AdZU.
Effective August 22, 2011, Monday, all AdZU faculty and staff are hereby requested to observe the following SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT scheme:
- 1. Cleaning of all offices by the Physical Plant Personnel will be done three (3) times a week only– during Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This will allow more time for them to attend to “Hot Spot Areas” which need more attention.
- 2. The occupants of each office shall be responsible for the clean-up of their respective offices on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday;
Effective September 1, 2011, the occupants of each office shall be responsible for the Management/segregation of their waste as follows:
TYPE OF WASTE | WHERE TO BRING (at the end of each day) |
Biodegradable (food wastes) | …to be brought home |
Recyclable | LRC Bldg occupants — Red Bins located at the back of LRC Bldg NCB & CO Bldg occupants — Red Bins located between these two Bldgs Sauras Hall & Brebeuf Gym occupants — Red Bins located near the wash area/driveway to Sauras Hall BC Bldg occupants — Red Bins located at the back of BC Bldg near Kiosk B. HS occupants — Red Bins located at each floor of the bldg GS occupants — Red Bins located at the side of Kostka Bldg near MPCC |
Recyclable Papers | Confidential & Non-reusable papers – assign an office staff to do the shredding once a week or as needed using the shredding machines at the following shredding areas:
Reusable Papers – offices are highly encouraged to re-use bond papers for intra & inter- office transactions |
Non-Reusable Papers | Please do the shredding once a week or as needed using the shredding machines at the above-mentioned shredding areas. |
Residuals/Non-Recyclable | Black Bins where all the Red Bins arelocated. |
Let us remind each other to observe these practices. The task to make AdZU cleaner and greener is a never-ending one. The few initiatives above are the first steps to take in this long journey.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
