Philippine Red Cross reminisces September 9 Siege through Photo Exhibit

As the city commemorates the anniversary of last year’s siege and in line with the September 9 Reminiscence project, the Philippine Red Cross presented a photo exhibit on September 9 2014 at the Gallery of the Archipelago and the Peninsula. The exhibit is entitled “Stories of Heroism and Courage: A year after the siege.”

PRC Secretary Richard J Gordon, together with AdZU President Fr Karel S San Juan SJ, Chapter Administrator Dr Victor A Liozo Jr, and Secretary General Gwendolyn T Pang were among those present to lead the Ribbon cutting ceremony. Red Cross volunteers and AdZU students were also present to witness the event.

The exhibit illustrates photos of the Red Cross team on the ground during the siege while providing assistance to the wounded. The photos also honored the 13 PRC volunteers who were hit by bullets and wounded on duty.

Moreover, the exhibit showcased the assistance that the Red Cross was able to extend such as provision of potable water, management of water sanitation units, extensive medical care and basic healthcare to IDPs, feeding programs, and engagement of affected children in therapeutic storytelling in evacuation centers and transitory sites.

The exhibit runs until October 10 2014.
