I am happy to inform the community of the election of Bro. Carlito M Gaspar CSsR, Mr Pedro Rufo N Soliven and Atty Laisa M Alamia to the AdZU Board of Trustees during the Corporation/BOT meeting last 27 February 2016.

Bro. Karl Gaspar, Ph.D., CSsR is a Redemptorist brother and a renowned sociologist-anthropologist, theologian, interfaith scholar and missionary. He has lived and worked with indigenous communities in Southern Mindanao, including the Mandaya in Davao Oriental, the Manobo in Cotabato and Bukidnon, the Subanen in Zamboanga del Sur, and the Dulangan Manobos in Sultan Kudarat. He holds a PhD in Philippine Studies (University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, 2001).

Mr Cholo Soliven is a well-respected Zamboangueño business leader, an alumnus (HS 1981, ABEconomics 1985) and former president of the AdZU Alumni Association (20092011), and President (2nd term) of the Zamboanga City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZCCIFI). He is the president and CEO of SoliVenture Philippines, Incorporated, a familyowned and controlled corporation he founded, whose allied businesses are into retail, food, distribution and real estate development.

Atty Laisa is currently the Executive Secretary of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, an alumna (BSNursing 1993) and former AdZU legal counsel (201011). I thank  Bro Karl, Mr Soliven, and Atty Alamia for their generosity in sharing their time and leadership in the service of the mission of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University.

I also take this opportunity to thank Dr Antonette PalmaAngeles who served in the Board for three terms (nine years) and Engr Santiago Navarro who served for two terms (six years, with five of these years as vice chair). Their participation in the Board these past many years helped significantly in moving the University forward in its mission.
