MEMO TO: THE ATENEO COMMUNITY
RE: NEW FATHER PROVINCIAL OF THE PHILIPPINE PROVINCE OF THE SOCIETY OF JESUS
Today, Father Provincial Jose Cecilio J Magadia SJ has officially announced the name of the new Father Provincial of the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus. On 12 January 2013, Father General Adolfo Nicolas SJ appointed me as the 11th Provincial to succeed Fr Magadia effective 12 June 2013.
I will inform the Board of Trustees about my new appointment. The process of searching the next President of Ateneo de Zamboanga University will commence as soon as I get advice from Fr Provincial and the AdZU Board.
At the moment, I cannot say when exactly can the new President take over the leadership of the university. You can rest assured, however, that there will be no moment of leadership vacancy in AdZU.
Our assignments as Jesuits are simply missions that have to be done in the service of the Lord and his Church. I thank AdZU for teaching me what leadership is and for your support and friendship. It will not be easy for me to leave AdZU, my home for six years. Assuredly, I will continue to look after you from a distance through the AdZU Board and the new President.
Please pray for me as I prepare to undertake a new mission of great responsibility. Let us pray also for Fr Magadia for his new assignment as Fr General’s Counselor for Formation.
