The Ateneo Center for Leadership and Governance (ACLG) through its Social Entrepreneurship Program facilitated the conduct of the “Lamisahan Sewing Skills Training”. This training was conducted by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) IX through the help of the District II Representative Hon. Erico Basilio A. Fabian. Barangay Lamisahan is one of the partner communities of Center for Community Extension Services (CCES) and therefore the latter assisted in organizing the mentioned event. This training was held on March 5-9, 2012 at the Barangay Lamisahan Wellness Center.
There were twenty-four (24) participants who graduated at the end of the five (5) days training and they were awarded with certificate of completion by TESDA on March 10, 2012. The participants were primarily taught how to sew a bag made of tarpaulin and cloth. This is so that the group could start a tarpaulin bag business through the help of CCES. The names of these graduates will also be registered at Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) as a certified “Bag Makers” in the country.
This training is just the beginning of their journey to fulfill their dream of becoming an entrepreneur.
