“Having
to represent the university in such [a] prestigious academic event is a once in
a lifetime opportunity; we just had to grab it.”

Allen
Ross Sanoria and Marf Vergel Dalogdog, 5th year BS Accountancy students representing
the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants AdZU Chapter bagged the top two
and four slots in the 10th PICPA National Accounting Quiz Showdown
(NAQDown) Mindanao Hub eliminations held at the Finster Hall, Ateneo de Davao
University last July 16.

On
the semi-final round, of the 37 participants from Mindanao, Sanoria finished
second and Dalogdog fourth qualifying them both to represent Region 9 in the
National Finals happening in October
during the 20th National Mid-Year Convention.
The said event happened simultaneously with the NCR, Luzon, and Visayas Hubs’ NAQDown.

Sanoria
and Dalogdog relate to having doubts and feeling so much pressure during the
competition but are both thankful for the overwhelming moral support from JPIA-AdZU.
This
is the first time that the Ateneo de Zamboanga University landed a spot in the
top 5 and is the only school from Mindanao to have two representatives
advancing to the final round.

The
contestants were accompanied by their coach and moderator, Armee Jay Cresmundo,
CPA; JPIA-AdZU Local Chapter President, Alexandra Wee; and NFJPIA-WMC Regional
President Vyrsace Lyka Toledo.

Public Accountants (PICPA). This year, the event was held in association with
