Jesuits organize vocation seminar for young men

The Society of Jesus conducts vocation seminars in order to encourage young men to consider priesthood and the religious life. One such event was recently held on September 16 at the university’s Jesuit Residence. 17 college students and young professionals were given the chance to get a glimpse of life in the Society, to meet the Jesuits and to discern about their vocation.

A series of activities like group sharing and video watching were prepared for the participants. They got to be part of some discussions regarding the background of the Society of Jesus: who the Jesuits were, what spirituality was to them and what their apostolates and ministries were. Other topics like the vows made by the Jesuits were discussed along with the discernment process. A panel discussion was also held for those who wanted to ask questions to the Jesuits.

According to Br. Jereme Asunto, SJ, two other seminars are already being planned for both November and February. He added that those who have questions regarding the Society and religious life may approach any of the Jesuits in the campus or visit the Jesuit Residence. Also, Br. Asunto may be contacted directly through his contact number: 09266102299 or his e-mail address: jeremeasunto@yahoo.com. Additional information about the Society can also be accessed at the Jesuits’ official website: www.phjesuits.org.
